ultrasounds are never 100% when it comes to predicting the gender thats why they say that they aren't sure... they only way to be 100% is thru an amnio.... they thought i was going to have 2 lil boys, then at my next ultrasound saw that they were a boy and a girl, and the umbilical cord was probably just between her legs. normally when they say its a girl, it is, it is more likely to be wrong when it comes to boys. im sure you will have another ultrasound before you have the lil one since you are about half done, and they will tell you again. good luck and congrats!!!

They can definately be wrong!!! Even highly trained technicians can sometimes mistake the sex. In fact, determining gender from images on the ultrasound are never 100% at any point in the pregnancy. At 20 weeks, the baby's genitals are developed enough to see, but the baby could have his/her legs crossed, be moving around, or the image just may not be clear enough.

I wouldn't start buying pink yet until the next ultrasound when they are a little more confident!

Good luck!

My niece changed genders at each ultrasound:) The ultrasound 2 weeks before the baby shower came back as a boy so she went through her first 6 months in a lot of boy clothes! She is now 8 and as girly as can be.

Sonographers are usually not permitted to disclose the sex of the baby due to lawsuits...so usually they will word it something like..."it appears to be", or " looks to me like it could be". So they can never be certain or liable. It is safe to say these days with technology that she is probably right but I would have the doctor confirm the sex of the baby. Usually by the 20th week it is pretty safe to say! Congrats and good luck!!!

Have another one when you are further along- if the baby has his /her legs tucked up and it may keep the area hidden- I thought I was having a girl until my last ultra sound when he opened his legs a little and showed us pink was not the color of choice! Congradulations and hope that you are blessed with a healthy babe!

My friend was told that they thought it was girl, but they couldn't be 100% sure because of the angle the baby was at, and she ended up having a boy....so yes they can be wrong

Well according to every check up my mom had I was to be a boy.

After nine months and a newly decorated blue boy nursery.. they welcomed a little girl in the world. haha. So yes they definately can be wrong.

They can be wrong, and have been. The baby moves alot in the womb and its hard to tell fingers from umbilical cord from other things. And if she has her legs crossed, she could be a he. Better buy yellow or greens.

I wouldn't go buying a room full of pink stuff just yet
if she said she wasn't for sure then yes she could definitely be mistaken ... it wouldn't be the first time for that

so she thinks it is a girl.. so maybe 65% it is a girl if she is not sure. My tecnian said no doubt about it, she KNOWS I am having a boy.. you are just probably have a girl
