Posted in the Canada Gazette November 11th, 2006, now considered offially inforced. Details can be found on the New Democratic Parties official website. I saw it origonally on the news recently.
Conservative Parties official statement "...a person may advertize, sell, or import an asbestos product...that is used in learning or in play". I have not read the whole quote. It my include other products as well.

No, I don't believe everything I read. I posted this as a question "what do you think. I disagree with it a couple of weeks ago and people wanted more details. So here it is. Two of the previous answers I got were from one; from someone who worked in the asbestos industry and the other from a student studying this substance. Both were horrified at this news. Toys break down, get chewed on and so on. There are two kinds of asbestos fibres, one barbed and one hairlike. Both are harmful but it is the barbed version that causes asbestosis. Asbestos floats in the air easily. An air quality control testor told me their is a certain amount in city air usually.
Why add to the problem? We need to reduce wear and tear on our health add more to the soup!

(Jamie). Why would you ask this question if you didn't take the time to finish reading the source of your information?
Asbestosis is a disease of people who mine and process asbestos. Remember the news reports showing men in white suits with breathing hoods heading into schools? Seen any recently? know any kids diagnosed with asbestosis?
Black lung disease is primarily a coal miners affliction.
Don't be so quick to believe every thing you "almost" read.
How many know that the recent concern about diseases caused by silicone breast implants have been disproven? Of course you haven't heard. Remember the headlines? Well when it was resolved it made page 22 at the bottom of the page. How long has it been since you heard about it?
So you see, you must not believe everything.
