Just a natural reflex, I guess. Kinda like we enjoy the rocking motion (or in this case, the swiveling motion)...maybe subconsciously it brings back pleasant memories of when we were babies (being lulled to sleep, etc., etc.)...I'm a sociologist....maybe the psychologists here could provide better explanations.

Well with some people it could be just plain old nervousness but with some i think it's something they may do when their thinking and don't realize their doing it.

Personally, I swivel because I can't sit still. I am always moving around, when I stand I move back and forth a lot and when I sit I bounce my knee or swivel, I also do it our of boredom.
