Why is our society based on alcohol? Consider, for instance, ceremonies such as weddings, when it is customary to have either wine or champagne to celebrate the occasion. Also consider the stereotypical father-son sharing of a beer for the first time. And the nearly-required after-graduation party....as well as the fact that it is nearly a must to drink in high school, even though it is illegal. And then the typical bachelor party or any party for that matter is considered to be nothing if there is no alcohol present. Why is alcohol such a huge part of our society that every occasion, every celebration, every gathering of adults, requires alcohol to be present?

That's a really great question. But you must realize that alcohol has been linked to socialzation for centuries, and it is not just our society. To have a glass of wine 500 years ago at a banquet still had very sociable connotations. Alcohol is a festive drink even down to grape crushing revelries in Italy to make wine or the beer fests that have held place for year in Germany.

The political, industrial, and scientific leaders—they're doing so many crazy, horrible things. They're simply dragging the whole country and the whole world down. Why don't they stop harassing people?
For instance, the last time I drove to the Gainesville airport, I saw one sign that said, ''Don't Drink.'' A nice government billboard: "Don't Drink Alcohol. Please Don't Drink." And then as soon as you passed that one you saw fifteen billboards for whiskey companies (who, of course, pay the government lots of taxes). Now, if ten thousand times a day you see "Drink This," 'Smoke That," "Eat This," "Buy That," then you're going to go crazy. If someone is always whispering into your ear, "Do this, do this, do this,"' finally you'll say, " Yes—I'll do it." So the government allows all this vicious propaganda, and the government—employed scientists come along and tell us, "Yes, you can do it. It's all right. Don't worry. It's all approved by us. It's authorized. You can slaughter animals and kill unborn babies. You can do anything you like. Don't worry about it. Just give us your tax money."

alcohol, relaxes the party goers and with limited use can be fun...unfortunately it takes a few bad apples to get a bit out of hand and ruin the good time.
Now alcohol will be here forever, you do not have to drink it and can still loosen up by getting to know the guest and all can have fun as well.
