Where can I buy Go sets around St. Anthony, Idaho? I want to start a Go club at my school and my principal said only if I buy the sets and books.

I do not live in Idaho. I live in chicago. We have a "Gamers paradise". I have bought chess sets, and Go sets there. You should check out your nearest mall for a store like that. Or call the malls customer service asking for a place that sells game sets like chess because most people have never heard of Go.

I would focus on getting the sets first, with just one or two basic books. You can build from there. The American Go Foundation (don't mix it up with the American Go Association) gives out free 9x9 and 13x13 sets (you'll need an adult teacher or advisor to fill out the form).

The cheapest standard sets I found ran about $50. But Yellow Mountain offers two portable sets that go for only $36 and $12 respectively (the cheaper one I think has a really small board and pieces).

When purchasing, give some thought to what happens down the road. If club members pool money for some sets and the club disbands, where will the sets go? If it doesn't stop (I hope it doesn't), you will eventually graduate. If you bought some stuff with your own money, will you take it with you? Best to think about this stuff ahead of time to avoid squabbling in the future.

Good luck with getting your club started. I hope it goes well.

short answer: White gets +6.5 factors as a komi in extra element: basically, whoever performs 2d ( custom dictates that white is going 2d) is at a draw back, and no person is arguing that certainty. human beings purely have differing critiques on how that draw back interprets to factors on the board by making use of the tip of the tournament. After quite some surveys and experiments that's been got here across that a komi of 6 is suited to stability out the opportunities of triumphing for the two factors. the definitely komi although, is 6.5, so as that pulls would be eradicated in vast tournaments ( the place enjoying a 20 hour pastime back is impractical )
