Why are the British crap at any sport that they invented, such as football(soccer) tennis,golf,cricket,?

snooker. As somone who is proud to be British, I often cringe at the feeble and lame excuses we give when we loose at sport, and we still go on that we won the World Cup 40 years ago, yes you heard me 40 YEARS AGO! does anyone feel the same way and think shut up and let's start winning not whining? we don't even win at darts

I never gave it much thought.... I assumed the Brits were good at cricket since they're some of the few who can understand the Ins and outs of it.

How about Snooker? You guys invented that, correct? I thought the indoor "sports" would be popular and therefore honed.

As far as the thing about darts, I think it might be the strength of Guinness and size of the draughts. I know my game goes off after 10 ounces of a 12-ounce Budweiser.

But please do cheer up. The world could do with a few new sports - go invent some (I think you Brits could hold an advantage over our race drivers if it was held in a keep-to-the-left country.)

Ardnaid :- The American did not invent the telephone, Alexander Bell did (a Scot). You did not invent the steam engine either it was invented in the 1690's by an English military engineer Thomas Savery. All your rocket technology came from the Germans from WW2. The computer was invented at Manchester university in England. The Brits invented American Football too. The Americans took rules from an obscure version of rugby from a football club in England, and formatted it to fit our parks. Over time, the format changed and evolved, added, subtracted...and now we have American Football.

I agree with you...but I feel it's like a curse. Our oldest franchise in American football is the Cardinals. They are also the worst franchise in the history of the sport. They have won 2 titles, nearly 80 years ago, and 1 of them they refused, due to controversy. Go figure.

I guess when you create something, the best you can do sometimes is the fact that you created it. Hold your hat on that.

England's national football team is like the American National Basketball team. They're way ahead of everybody else in terms of talent and skill, but they can't put it together because they think that sticking a bunch of stars together will produce a good team. They don't have any chemistry.
