I have some floppy disks, look like they are those 'zip' disks to me. One is 3M, other is Maxel. They have stikcers which say "Imation Laser Servo Technology". Can I just purchase an external zip drive to read these? Or is there some other type of drive I should be using? I used to have a drive that read them, my old computer back in 1997 which is LONG gone already. I am not sure what type of a drive it was that I was using (not really that computer literate - sorry) Can anybody help?

Yea, the disks sound like Zip Drive disks

Not sure why you'd want to foll with them though. If I recall correctly they only held 100 mb

If they look like floppies, they may be ls-120 disks. They promised to be faster than floppies but ended up being slower. These were optical disks and indistinguishable from 3 1/2 floppies. They died out pretty quickly when they didn't work as well as the Zip disks. Either way they are both dead technology. The price and speed of CD's and USB drives has made these technologies null.

Yes, Imation made ZIP drives. It depends upon the type of disk, the format and the condition. If the format was FAT or NTFS then any modern Windoze OS can read them if you have the drive.

Good Luck
