If you are pregnant, is it safe to wear new clothes or sleep in new bedding before use? I bought a new king sized comforter, and washed it, but my washer is so small, I don't think it got the job done. It still has a slight "new smell" odor. Is it ok to use, or should I take it to the cleaners and wash in an industrial sized washer? Thanks.

I never washed them before using and I am fine and so are my boys. Although I did wash their clothes and bedding in mild detergent before they wore them until age 1.

I wash new sheets, pillow cases, blankets anything that is going to touch me. Most of the time the comforter is folded over, and at the bottom of the bed. But if it , had a new smell like some of them do then I would have it cleaned at the Laundromat.

There are no chemicals in this new product that make it harmful for you to use before washing it or having it dry cleaned. In fact there will be more chemicals in it after you take it to the cleaners. The Health and Safety Board have very strict guidelines on new products just so you don't have to worry about this kind of thing.

You have no idea what other customers or employees have done to clothes or bedding before putting it in the shelf. Have you ever just dropped a piece of clothing in the store? Wonder how many people have walked across that floor before you dropped it? Who has sneezed, spit, or had dog poop on there shoe before you dropped that clothing in that spot. Or how many people have tried that clothing on before you... ALWAYS, and I do mean ALWAYS wash everything before you use it.
