The moon is quite unreliable in telling the time. The sun, however, is much more accurate. By creating a sun dial, you can tell what time it is by they sun's shaddow. Also, if you know approxamately what time the sun sets, you can figure out the time by counting the number of hand-widths between the bottom of the sun and the horizon. Each hand-width counted is equal to one hour.
Lets say that you know the sun sets around 7:30 pm. You hold your hand out in front of you, turned to the side, and count the number of 'hands' it would take to go from the bottom of the sun to the horizon. Lets say that it took 4 hand-widths. This would mean that you have about 4 hours of sunlight left, meaning that it is 3:30 pm (7:30 minus 4 hrs).
I hope I was helpful. Good luck!

Most of us presume that our astrological destiny revolves around the Sun. Well, if that's what you thought, you aren't wrong, but only half right. For, the moon too has a major role to play in determining your emotions, instincts and passions. Traditional Indian astrological predictions are based on the Moon's position at the time of birth. So unlike the Sun Sign, which is based on definitive periods between months, the Moon sign varies drastically. This is because the moon moves 13-15 degrees every day and remains in one sign for only 2 and ¼ days. So in order to know your moon sign, you need to know the day, month, time, year as well as location of birth. Moon sign predictions are believed to be very accurate. Read on to find out if that's true for you too…

I think you could figure out the time, but only if you knew where the moon was when you were knocked out, and how many days you were knocked out, so yes the SUN would be a better source of this information.

You'd need to know the phase of the Moon and its position. Different phases of the Moon rise and set at different times - the Full Moon rises at sunset and sets at sunrise. First Quarter Moon rises at noon and sets at midnight. Third Quarter Moon rises at midnight and sets at noon. New Moon rises at sunrise and sets at sunset (of course you can't actually see a new moon).
Personally, I don't think telling time by the Moon is any less accurate than telling time by the Sun, assuming you are familiar with the Moon phases and all.
