Sounds like the BIOS system password has been turned on. There are two things you can try, but most likely number 2 will be the only one that's going to work.

1. At bootup, enter the BIOS setup utility by pressing usually, delete, ctrl + alt + esc, F1, F2, F10. Usually one of those keys. If it lets you in, you can look for advanced or security settings and disable the boot password. (This might not work because it might ask you for a password here too.)

2. Either yourself, or a computer professional, will have to pull your CMOS battery from your computer, or switch the jumper to reset your BIOS. This is done internally in the computer and should only be done if you are sure of what you are looking for, or have a professional do it.

Hope this helps!

That's a power-on password to let you use the computer.

Didn't you used to have a power-on password?

If you didn't and you are sure no-one else can have put one in, there are not many things that can cause it... a computer fault (maybe the bios has failed, maybe the itunes update has messed up your BIOS, maybe powering it off caused the problem) or a virus (maybe the itunes software was a trojan or was infected with a virus).

If your manual tells you how to bypass the bios power on password, try that. If not I think you are going to have to take it to a shop.

sounds like a power on password....Go into your BIOS (hit F2 while powering on machine) and disable the power on password it should be under the security tab. If you cannot find it, look for any option in BIOS that resets everything in BIOS to the default, this should turn off any power on password you may have set.
