Many men have been maimed, physically and mentally abused, died, slept on couches many a sleepless nights, and forced into heavy drinking at the local bar due to this unspeakable evil we call "the period". Many men are too afraid to even say the word...only whispered in huddles when they are among other terrified tearful men, shaking their heads...as they describe and share the horrors they have witnessed and lived through....

It differs with every girl! I started in 6th grade and it really really sucked for several years. Not only did I bleed a whole lot, for a year or two I was very irregular, so I never really knew when it was going to happen, and that's no fun! Also the cramping is pretty bad, but if you can lay down with a heating pad on your stomach for a while that usually always helps with the cramps!

After two or three years (earlier for some women) you get regular, you know how bad and when your cramps will be (I cramp the day before my period starts, so I can usually tel when it's going to happen), I also get gassy before and the first couple days of my period. I also have a much much lighter period than I used to (I'm 19 now), I used to have to use a heavy pad and a super tampon, and now I only have to use a tampon. So it does get better!

It's really different for all girls though, you may get really lucky and have a light and easy period, or you may be like me and have it really be the pits for a couple years. Good luck and don't be scared!

You aren't bleeding, in the usual sense. It is a release of stored fluid and it flows.
You can have sharp, jabbing pains at intermittent periods.
You can feel crampy across your lower abdomen.
You can get totally fatigued a day or two before the flow starts.
For everyone I ever knew, our resistance to colds and flu was compromised during the period. Sometimes, a clot forms and the amount of liquid is too much for your sanitary device to take care of.
First couple of days are heavier and last two are lighter. Oh, four girls, that I knew when I was a kid, passed out at some time during the first or second day. I never did that.
Like anything else, you'll get used to it.
You won't ever like it, but it becomes a matter of course.

It sucks! You bleed alot at first and have alot of accidents if ur not careful. After a coulple days it's not as heavy but is still annoying. You also can't forget about the cramps. It happens to every girl and they hurt. I've had them so bad that Ive gotten sick in the middle of school. If you wear pads(which I wouldn't) you stink and sit in a puddle of ur own stinky blood. If you were tampons it's alot better but it doesn't help with any of the annoying aspects of a period. Be sure to keep a bottle of Midol with you!!!!!

It doesn't suck if you keep a healthy attitude about it

Always be prepared
remember that you might be sensitive or Horny around that time

Lots of water, good diet, exercise and rest might be helpful. If you feel bitchy, limit the time you spend around people you might lash out at!

This is such an important part of your life, for in control, will see you well into the rest of your life and is has a fair amount of baring on your over all health. Embrace your period as a time of New beginnings. (If you don't "get it", and you have been sexually active, You might be pregnant!!)
It is just another cycle(think of your new electric bill)...like life will very much begin to become as you grow up and mature

You bleed and ruin your bedsheets, underwear and clothes. You bloat and look and feel heavier. You have cramps which are painful. You are tired and have no energy. You poop all the time. You have mood swings that make you feel all kinds of emotions...PMS is a Biotch. Periods suck.

Bleeding happens for about 4-7 days depending. Breast tenderness, cramping, loose bowels, cravings (chocolate, chips), soreness down there from the napkins rubbing. (I hope I'm not the only one)

Drinking lots of water, avoiding salt helps a lot.

Your body prepares itelf every month for a pregnancy...if it doesn't happen it goes in tro menstruation. You also have ovaries which produce the hormone estrogen whi ch makes you the female you are, with all the curves etc....can't ask for more than that.

You're able to have a baby, your skin stays soft , the hormones released help prevent osteoperosis. You'll think differently about age 50.
