Very strange.
There may be a background application (like an AV) that intermittently delays the screen refresh while you are on line.

From what you say there is no way that it is due to a defective keyboard or a type rate setting.

Try moving your mouse cursor in circles for 30 seconds or so while using your email program....if you notice the mouse stall then there is something going on in the background.

Could even be some bizarre hardware or driver conflict.
Have you updated the keyboard & mouse driver from HP's support site ?

It is just possible that you are either typing too fast or that you are not typing properly in that the keys are not making a connection.

I have three PCs with three different keyboards. All have a different touch with my oldest, the Pentium III, being the worst. The keys have to be pressed hard like a manual typewriter, whereas another keyboard requires a light touch.

Try typing slower to see if this helps. You might also check the settings in Start, Settings, Control Panel, Keyboard. Experiment with the settings.

Repitition rate in the CMOS Setup might be too fast. Find it in the Peripherals portion, where it says "Typematic Rate" and it cold be 30 keystrokes per second, but, the default is 6.

If that isn't a help, could you please download http://pclinuxos.com or http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/download.html
burn to CDrom, and then, reboot!??

If the typing in one of the word processors is OK, then the trouble is the drivers in Windows are in conflict, and something has to be reloaded, or killed off.

Have you run or downloaded anything new that was 'FREEware, or Shareware, or a game',
off the internet recently, since you started to experience this problem?

Did you ever grab and run Crap Cleaner? FREE to get, and use!

I also advise AVG that is also FREE!

thats odd ... i would guess either somthing with ur email client ... if thats the only problem area .. or if it does it in other typing like notepads it could remotely be a bios issue ...
