hi .. draw a grid, and count the number of whole squares, and estimate the bits of squares. your scale will dictate how big each square is.

if the lake is circular you can estimate the area as that of a circle
area=(pi)(diameter/2)^2
the diameter is the distance across lake and pi is approximately 3.14
