There is an unwritten "No Snitching" rule in many minority occupied neighborhoods. The rule requires that all residents keep quiet about illegal activities that go on in the ‘hood. If you tell, or snitch to the feds (police) you are forever labeled a rat, a snitch and a trick. Along with the name calling and bad reputation comes the threat of violence. Some people would rather go to jail than to face all the negative consequences of being a police or government informant. Yet and still the same thugs and gang members that people keep quiet to protect turn around and do a drive by in which little kids coming from the corner store get caught in the cross fire.

My question has 3 parts:
A. Does the No Snitch rule hurt or help the hood?
B. Do you think the rule will ever Change?
C. What needs to happen to put the change into affect?

A. Hurt
B. Only if everyone acts in one accord.
C. People need to become so tied of it they will act.

It is the same principle of war. When it goes too far then you have to take a stand and there are people who are going to get hurt in the process.

The no snitching rule hurts any community that enforces it because people are protecting the criminals who cause harm to their neighborhood. But some people are forced to do it when the perpetrator is a family member or friend.

I think the rule will change, but very slowly.

Neighborhood residents need to stand up for themselves and start neighborhood watch programs and call the cops when they witness and drug dealing, stealing, or violence in their neighborhoods.

A. hurt
B. no b/c people will never swallow their pride and grow somes balls and stand up for them selves and sometimes an innocent child or person b/c most people are just to selfish these days!
C. i wont snitch cause if i'm dumb enough to get caught then i take the rap but it depends on the situation b/c if i saw some kids get killed and i knew the perps then they would be narked in so fast. only b/c if that was your kid how would you feel, knowing that you had to bury your baby. i couldnt give a poop if i got killed for narking them in... you died for a reason and damn good cause i say.
there isnt anything you can 'do' people need to change their attitudes big time! and notice when its their kids that died its the end of the world.... so much for the 'no snitch' policy on that one!

A. Obviously, it hurts people and helps the other. Though I'm sure you'd feel better if you told someone.
B. It's not something visibly seen, so it would probably take some time before it can change.
C. To put change into affect? I guess that's up to the people, not us.

All I know is: If I'm running with my crew and we all do something illegal, if they catch me then they caught all of us. Anything to get out of going to jail.
