Why would they be speaking spanish for?

Spain has never had the ability to invade anywhere since the end of the 17th Century.

The United States took cuba and the Philippines off Spain during the Spanish American war in 1899.

I do think that you mean Germany in this question, not spain.

By the way, America did not win the 2nd world war. The allies won the 2nd world war.

Firstly, WW2 was won by a group of countries fighting together to defeat fascism.
Secondly, the USSR played a larger part in winning the war then the USA.
Last of all, considering the major players for the Axis powers were Germany, Italy and Japan, why would anyone be speaking Spanish?

Try doing a little study before you ask questions, that way you won't look so stupid. If Great Britain hadn't stood up to Germany at the start then the US would have been fighting an undefeated Axis Powers alone and you would now be proclaiming "God Bless the Fuhrer".

Well, pretty much everything that everybody has said just about says it all. But that isn't going to save you all from my six pennyworth !

America would do well to educate her children with the truth, rather than propaganda. The United States did not 'win' the Second World War. The Allied Forces did, which were, from the Western Front aspect commanded by one General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Ike actually turned out to be probably the best man for the job, but make no mistake, his appointment was purely political, in order to avoid excessive resistence back in Washington D.C. with budget allocations and the like.

This is but a small part of the equation, the main credit for wearing down the German Nazi war machine has to go to our Soviet allies, who lost so many of their people, military and civilian, that there simply is not an accurate count, taking into account actions such as the seige of Stalingrad, the best estimate is that as many as 30 million Soviet citizens lost their lives fighting Adolf Hitler.

Compare this to the following, and maybe you will derive a better understanding :

1. British - 388,000
2. France - 810,000
3. Poland - 6,850,000
4. USA - 295,000

In total the casualties were estimated at over 60 million, of which almost half were Soviet. That means that the Soviet national sacrifice was about 100n times that of the USA.

So..........had the Soviet Union and her allies not won the Second World War, most Europeans would probably be speaking German. It is only by extraordinary restraint by the Soviets that we didn't all end up speaking Russian.....очень хороший, Hyet ?

Firstly, the correct ignorant insult is 'wouldn't those Europeans all be speaking German by now?'

Secondly, you show your ignorance when you suggest that America won the 2nd World War?

In fact it was an ALLIED victory, to be sure, we couldn't have survived without Lend-Lease, and to be honest we couldn't have invaded Europe on 6th June 1944 (that's D-Day BTW) without the US...

But it was still an ALLIED victory.

so remember, if you want to show how ignorant your are and upset Europeans, then firstly, the correct insult is:

You'd all be speaking German now if it wasn't for us Americans.

And secondly, it was an ALLIED victory, Russian, British, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, and some help from the French...

Finally, one might say, as us British indubitably can, that if it wasn't for us British you Americans would be speaking Dutch and Spanish...

hope this helps to improve your lamentably bad education.

Philip

One of us needs our head seeing to, and it's not me. What do they teach in history in the USA? The allies won World War II. The Russians lost the most civilians and soldiers. Many towns and cities in Belgium, the UK and France were bombed - none in the USA. (Hawaii wasn't part of the USA at the time).
Spain was neutral. They speak German in Germany.
John Wayne is dead. The USA didn't win the Korean War, (the problem still exists), they lost the Vietnam War and they're not doing too well in Afghanistan and Iraq.

So, the way you reason, we're all going to end up speaking Arabic or Pushtu. Don't care what the spell checker says - I prefer Pashtu.

The Allied Forces won WWII which the US was a part of. Europe and the USSR were fighting the Germans. If the German forces had won the war it is a probability that all of us would be speaking German or Japanese now. The US entered the war after Japan (an ally of Germany's) bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawai'i. We ended the war when we dropped two atomic bombs in Japan. By that time German forces had already surrendered.

Firstly, you ignorant fool - Your comment is a insult to the millions of men and women from Britian, France, Russia, Austrailia and New Zealand - America won their own war against Japan - but aided the british and allies.

Secondly, NO! chances are us europeans would be speaking German and you americans would be speaking Japanese.

Ignorance is a major enemy of America today - not Osama!

Where, - in the name of all, that is SACED, - did you get the idea, that the Americans won the Second World War, by themselves, - as you seem to be implying?

My GRANDFATHER, - a YORKSHIREMAN, by birth, - fought, in ITALY, AND in the Far East!

The Americans were only drawn into the conflict, two years after European hostilites began. Europe had been at war, since 1939, - America declared War, on 8 December, 1941, - just a DAY, after the JAPANESE launched their attack, on PEARL HARBOUR, in HAWAII!

Technically speaking, the Allies won the 2nd World War. America just strolled in halfway through and robbed all the good stuff.
