By looking at your definition of a Republican, it's easy to see that either you're European, or you're studying early U.S. history. Either way, you're a bit confused.
A republic is a form of government where the power resides with a body of citizens entitled to vote. In an ideal republic, all citizens are equal under the law, regardless of their wealth or social class. The government also derives its authority from the people. This is the form of government that The United States adopts today(with minor adjustments to make it into a respresentative democracy.)
Republicans are a party, yes, but they also have values and principles that separate them from other parties, and make them unique and different.(OPPOSITE) Republicans believe in personal responsibility(taking care of yourself) over personal freedoms(abortions, gay marriage). We also believe in economic freedom( financing ourselves, which is our reponsibility) over economic responsibility(such as helping homeless people who choose not to help themselves). By reversing our ideas around(making them opposite of what they are now) we would turn into...
So, to answer your question... Democrats, Communists, and the Green Party(crazy tree huggers) these people are the opposites of Republicans.
Early Americans that "believe in the abolition of a monarch" were refered to as the Patriots, and the opposites of those people were the Loyalists.
A monarchy, on the other hand, comes from the Greek words μονοÏ, "one," and αÏÏειν, "to rule', A Monarchy is a form of government that has a monarch as head of state. A monarch is basically a king or a queen.
Oh... and it's Monarchist, not monarchian.
MonarchISTS are people who believe in Monarchy.

I don't think most of you understood his question. The guy is from London and is not talking about the Republican Party. He's asking about "republican" in a strict sense, as in "republic".
