I had a baby about 3 months ago. I went for my postpartum check up and my pap smear came back abnormal. Before I had my baby, the paps came back normal. Now I have to go for a colposcopy. I had a c-section birth. I don't know how I could have an abnormal pap smear. I haven't had intercourse unprotected. I have no clue. Also I have insurance but I herd that it's expensive to have a colposcopy and the lab tests. How much is it before the insurance company pays? Thank you!

Just because you haven't recently had unprotected sexual actitivity what about the past?
You didn't mention what the problem is but my guess is atypical cells. The colposcopy is probably considered an office procedure, it would be best to call the office and specifically ask how much is this service, and will you bill insurance for it, and do I have to have my part of the fees before the service will be provided, or can I make payment arrangements? In addition I would contact my insurance carrier and see if this is a covered service and if my physician is the one they want to do this. Some insurance carriers will have a preferred provider and want you to use their office. The most important thing is that you deal with this health issue, you need and want to be around for your child so see to it that you are taken care of soon. Good luck to you

2 out of the 3 times I was prenant, my pap came back abnormal. Pregnancy does that. Get another test in a few months and see the non pregnancy results.
