i'm stupid and i need step by step instructions...
Basically my external HD got infected, so i bought a program and backed up all the data on my desktop HD. now I want to nuke all the contents of the external drive so i can use it again. The drive is corrupted and is inaccessible, but i'm sure there is a way to wipe everything in it, including the virus that is making it inaccessible.

Eraser is free and offers secure deletion - just make sure you select the correct drive letter for your external drive

open my computer right click on the drive you want to wipe, from the list choose format then follow the on screen instructions

go to my computer right click on the drive and go to format!!!

Try CCleaner,I use it all the time.
