wilson,

Can you do so? Yes. Should you do so? No, not if what I believe is going on really is.

I think you may have a problem.

There are too many things that you do not say, I'm afraid. You do not say how much you weigh. You do not say how old you are. You do not say if you are on any other medications. You do not say why you want to take viagra (hang on a minute). These are important questions.

You see, both of these are vasodilators. Will they interact? Yes. Should you be taking both of them? No. Can you take them on successive days? Yes. Should you? No, not if they are your only medication or lifestyle change.

You don't say if you have to take them, or if you're hoping for a performance boost for bragging rights.

If this is all for bragging rights, then you're putting yourself into a bit of difficulty, but it's more psychological than physical. That would be a different discussion. You just might be letting yourself in for more physical trouble than you think. The effects of these drugs are not limited to their prescripted use. Remember, vasodilators will not just dilate the targeted arteries. They'll dilate all of them. They are not to be taken lightly.

Let's assume for a minute now that you have to take them. That means that your arteries need dilating, which means that they are getting plugged. All of them.

That means your heart, too.

Cardiology research tells us that a man in his fifties who needs Viagra has a 25% chance of a heart attack or a stroke in two years.

NO2 and Viagra do not cure any problem. They only alleviate symptoms until the symptoms get so bad that the drugs don't help any more.

What you tell me here concerns me, especially since you've left off your age. If you are 85, I wouldn't be quite so worried about this, but I assume that you are not.

So what you need to do immediately is to go on a no-fat diet. No fat, no oil. None. No meat. Lots of vegetables. Make fruit and vegetables your diet.

Are you on a cholesterol-lowering drug? Get one. Also get and read Dean Ornish's book, "Everyday Cooking With Dr. Dean Ornish" and do what it says. That will be your best chance of reversing the progression of the disease that is filling your arteries.

You should also look up information on the Portfolio Diet out of the University of Toronto. You need to do everything that you can to lower your blood lipid levels (including triglycerides, which means losing weight and cutting out sugar) so you can get back to being healthy.

Good luck.

The only drug interaction that is known with Viagra is NITRATES; these are pill, patches, or paste that are used for ANGINA (chest pain). I do not know what NO2 is taken for, but as long as they are not a NITRATE you should be OK. To be on the safe side you can call your pharmacist or doctor.
