my question is .
is it illegal to put business cards in private mails boxes.
the reason being i found a business card in spanish for taxi service and wanted to know if this is illegal to do this. the business card in question is as followed NAUGALPAN TAXI ( Owner) ARMANDO

Yes, it is. They can attach them TO your mailbox (which is equally noxious) but they cannot actually put them in your mailbox. Supposedly.
Most often folks who do this hire people to go around - it's sad.
One of those laws that is meant to deter - not something you'd want to call the dogs in for.

I have heard that it is illegal to use a mail box for anything other than official US Postal mail, as they don't want any competition, they want the taxi company to buy a 39 cent stamp and mail you the card.

Yes it is illegal, but you make more friends by letting the person know. It's okay to leave items outside of the mailbox or attached but not inside. This is especially true of political information.
