After what happened in Vegas during the NBA All-Star break, I don't see it happening. I think Vegas is not where the NHL should want to go.
Besides, sacrificing small, interested markets for larger uninterested areas has been one of Bettman's major fau\x pas.

Hopefully they stay right where they are (in a new arena of course). The fans deserve better than what the city management has provided so far which probably isnt so unexpected in Pittsburgh as they have nearly driven out the Steelers and Pirates with the same garbage. Pittsburgh has tremendous fan support (I believe they are playing to a 96% capacity this season...easily one of the best percentages in hockey), they have a good TV contract and best of all with the young talent they will continue this trend for the foreseeable future. That being said I think that Pens management has finally decided that they cant keep bleeding money so if the city doesnt get real serious real fast they may finally say enough is enough. If they do there is only one place they will end up...KC. First of all the city of Pittsburgh would never give the Pens a one year lease knowing they would leave town anyways so they would have to leave after this season and KC is the only place that has a barn built and ready to go. it doesnt hurt that they have all but given the Pens the keys to the city to get them there and the early reports are the stadium is amazing. Las Vegas and Houston have been mentioned mostly to shake up Pittsburgh city leaders....the old "Ante up now because a lot of other people seem to want us worse than you". It is too bad the fans of Pittsburgh have to go through this, it would seem their loyalty would earn them a little more respect than what this situation has offered. But they are tough, they survived the Steeler and Pirate fiascos and should survive this scare as well.

Las Vegas is seriously trying to get either a NBA or NHL franchise. Having lived in Vegas, I don't know if an NHL team would do well there. There are so many other things to do in that town, not to mention the population works at weird hours(swing shift and graveyard). The players would have to be very disciplined because there are so many distractions and temptations.
To the person that mentioned the NBA All-Star weekend, what happened there should not be used as a comparison. Would a Wednesday night game versus the Blue Jackets draw the same crowd that the NBA All-Stars would? You had thousands of people who had been partying all weekend. The Kings play a preseason game every year in Vegas, have attended at least three of them, and none of them have caused the trouble that the NBA All-Star game did.

Still in da 'burgh!!! (I'm wishing and praying) If they really wanted the franchise to leave, they would've made the official decision last year. The fact that the talks are taking so long is a sign that they don't want to leave. I know that the fans surely don't.
As for Vegas and KC - both of those would be a joke! The only place for the Penguins is in the city of Pittsburgh.

Houston has withdrawn so it is either going to be VEGAS, Kansas City, or Pittsburgh. Kansas City has upped their offer. Vegas will probably not beable to compete with Kansas City. The Penguins had a meeting Thursday at 6 and both sides thought that some progress was made. They will meet again. That is the latest that I have heard. Since I am from Pittsburgh, I definately would like to see the Penguins stay in Pittsburgh.

I hope it won't either be Kansas City or Las Vegas. I heard a while back that Winnipeg considered making a run again for an NHL franchise, which would be absolutely awesome.
The best scenario of course would be for the team to remain in Pittsburgh and just get a new arena.

It'd be sad for Pittsburgh fans if they lose a team just on the verge of breaking out and becoming contenders... very similar to the Quebec-Colorado move in the mid 90's.
Kansas City could potentially have a team with true Stanley Cup potential as soon as they begin... great way to start a new franchise. As a fan of hockey and not specifically a Pittsburgh fan... ideally they should stay in Pittsburgh if at all possible.. but enough is enough.. there is no real goodwill shown on the part of city/state officials to actively get a new stadium and the Pittsburgh franchise has a seemingly perfect offer laying for them waiting in KC... I see no real choice but to move them to where they can financially be a viable franchise again.

KC and Vegas is in the lead. Portland is not out of it either. Vegas would be nice for me but I do hope they stay in Pitt. It will be sad when money and stadium problems moves a team with the one of the strongest fan bases away. If they do move i pity the officals of the city and state.

I say Pittsburgh or K.C. I just don't really buy into them moving to Vegas. I think it was that nothing was being taken serious about Houston and they wanted a second city to "compete" for the team.

Honestly, this arena thing should have been done like 15 years ago, when Lemeuix was in his prime. Bettman is a loser and is DEE DEE DEE. He hates Crosby and that city. No wonder why the refs don't call a thing for him. Bettman is like that Canadian in that South Park episode where they go to Canada where they save Ike from adoption. And that Canadian is: Scott the D!*k. Maybe Bettman should change his name to that.
