Teens as a group are at a particularly high risk for infection with STDs because teens tend to engage in much riskier activities than do more mature individuals. Teens tend to have unprotected sex for a lot of reasons. For example, it is highly unlikely that most teens feel confident enough to go to either of their parents and ask them to purchase condoms for them or to take them to a gynecologist for birth control pills or in general just feel comfortable enough to talk to their parents about sex and get the proper information that they need. Also, teens are not as well informed about all the different forms of contraception. And while schools teach sexual education they don't really provide teens with everything that they should know. Also, most teenagers tend to have raging hormones. Boys tend to think alot about sex and probably masturbate as often as they can and whenever two teenagers are getting ready to have sex the last thing on their mind is putting on a condom.

Because we -they are the perfect age group for experimenting and getting into the whole having sexual relations thing.More and more teens are being pressured into sex earlier and earlier based on our media and heritage sex is becoming more like a fad instead of something that is sacred or you know something that is to be shared with marriage or when your in love now you pretty much just have to want to do it and you do.So with out as many strict rules or regulations where sex is concerned any more it makes it that much more dangerous for young teens who are new on the scene and just go with what ever feels good well because it's all over the t.v and in the music and schools they go to so more and more are unacknowledged about the important stuff and just pumped full of the feel good so do it stuff. This is why they are more subject to std's because they are very sexually active not always smart about using protection or getting your partner/s checked out beforehand and oblivious to the extremes of what sex really is and has many responsibilities.

Because many teens are reckless in their sexuall relationships and have sex with multiple partners without using protection. By doing effectivly when 2 teens have sex those 2 teens are having sex with every person either of them have ever had sex with. So if just one of their past partners had an STD, they could be a carrier even if they don't have any symptoms and pass it along to thier current partner, and they might get it and suffer symptoms or be a carrier, the best choice is to not have sex until marriage, so that way you won't get STD from horny partners.

Generally speaking, more partners and usually not prepared or knowledgeable about preventative measures. Society needs to realize that information and access to birth control products will not make a teen sexually active before they are ready. They will just become ready and thus be unprepared and unprotected.

It is really sad to see all the "am I pregnant?" questions posted at this site and the lack of knowledge these girls need.

Because, although they are sexually active, they are often immature and impulsive. They aren't experienced enough to ensure they are protected and some of them don't know what is required.

One word "H-o-r-m-o-n-e-s."

When I was a kid around 14, sex was like a new toy I had just discovered. As soon as you figure out how fun it is, you want to use it a lot.
Sometimes you use it irresponsibly.
