The absolute best way to break a glove in is by actually using the glove, When the glove is not in use, wrap a belt, rope, or bungy cord around the glove with a ball in the spot you want the pocket.

This is March. Baseball season is not starting. Whatever you do, DO NOT PUT OIL ON THE GLOVE NOW. All the oil will do is wreck baseballs by getting the leftover oil on the baseballs.

Oil is only for protecting the glove, put the oil on the glove when your season is over. Then put Neets's Foot Oil on the glove with your bare hands. The friction from your hand will help get the oil into the pores of the leather. That oil will protect the leather from drying out over the winter.

I have used this on my gloves as well as those of my sons. My two gloves are over 30 years old and are still in fine shape. Follow this method and your gloves will be in good shape years from now as well.

For a super-ficial break in that may or may not work, use a glove lubricant that you can get at any sports gear store.

But if your a person who doesn't believe in those kinds of things, then place 1 or 2 balls (depending on how big your glove is) is the pocket of your glove. Then, place it under a place where it will hold it in place; Anywhere from under your mattress to wrapping a rubber S-hooked strap around your glove will morph the glove's pocket to fit the baseball.

After a couple of days of sationary glove breaking in, unwrap it or get it from out of your mattress, and throw for 15-30 minutes with someone to loosen it's pocket up with real life baseball circumstances. Some gloves need constant throwing just so the pocket will form the right way. For example, my brand new Mizuno glove is super duty thick leather. It feels so soft when you put your hand in the glove, but it took forever to break in. I had to put the ball in the actual pocket of the glove, not just the middle, because it closed weird, causing me to drop a lot of routine fly balls.

But all in all, just keep 1 or 2 baseballs in your glove so it will always retain that shape so you won't have a flat glove that the ball won't stay in. Even after you break in your glove, still keep a baseball in it when you put it in your bag so it will never lose that shape; Especially during off-season if you won't use it for half a year.

There is a way to "bake" it. You can buy this stuff at Sports Authority, or Dick's Sporting Goods which you spray on, and place in the oven. It goes on like shaving creme. Just follow the directions. If you do this 3 times tops, it will be extremely broken in. I also found this site for you if you don't have a place to get the stuff. Some say baking the glove makes the leather dry to much, but I haven't seen that so far.

Shaving Cream, Not the Gel. Cover and rub in the shaving cream inside and outside, alot is not to much. Once your done with that, Take a baseball and put in the middle of the glove inside, wrap a damp towel around the glove and duc tape it and put under your matress

I don't bake my gloves (or microwave) it shortens the life.

To do it quick:
Oil the hinge area with glove oil or vasoline , put a ball in it and tie it up with string or rubber bands over night. You will need to loosen it up a little with your hands tomorrow just stretch it and work the flex. Then take it to the batting cages and catch balls for a couple of rounds. working the flex in the hinge and heel area.

This will probably be THE lamest answer, but I used to rub Vaseline on my glove and tie it wrapped around a ball. What to we do with today's glove?
