Oh I hate it when people do that!
Did you know, that if you WAIT for a year to expose your baby to the world, you've waited too long? Your baby will be just fine. If it's cold outside, wrap him up!
I had a couple neighbors once....one had a baby about 6 weeks before my twins were born and she hid in her house for the first 6 weeks or so. the other was a PA and he said that this is the time you should be rolling them in the dirt, not literally, and exposing them to animals. Their immune systems are developing. If you don't expose them to anything, it can't develop. If it doesn't develop, they'll be sick all the time when they get older.
If you want to go shopping, go shopping. I mean where's a better place to show off your new baby than a baby shop anyway? We took our babies out within days, just cause I can't stand to be in the house all the time! They're all just fine.

You brought the baby outside when you left the hospital and nothing happened. I took my baby out at 5 days old the first time. There is no reason not to take the baby out. It is all old myths and old wives tales. As long as the baby is dressed appropriately for the weather then go ahead take out the baby. If you are concerned that he might get sick, don't let any strangers (or anyone that might be sick) touch or handle the baby. He will be just fine!!!

technically your baby has already been ''out'' when you brought him home from the hospital. it is fine as long as there isn't extreme heat or cold. and not for long extended periods of time. also go on a day where there aren't a lot of crowds, like during the week and not sundays when a lot of people go out and shop. because that is what they are worried about, is all the colds and everything people have. so just avoid large crowds. i took my lil ones out at about 2 weeks every day, and just occasionally before that. but was a lil difficult for us with twin... lol so needed help when doing so. not for long periods of time, just an hour or two, i just needed to get out of the house!! and never had any problems.

You can take him out, but don't let random people touch him (and they WILL want to touch him!!) I always threw a blanket over the carrier so no one could look in and he could sleep in peace. AT this young age the baby hasn't formed an adult immune system and the baby is more vulnerable to infections and colds. Keep him out of crowded public places and like I said don't let random people handle him.

Unless you have an underground tunnel from the hospital to your living room, you have probably taken him outside before.
Yes, he's small, and yes he could get sick (get used to it... kids "could" get sick any day, and it will happen between the hours of 11PM to 5AM 98% of the time.) However, if you take precautions, he can go out. I got out with both of my kids within days of bringing them home.
If it's cold out, have him in layers, bring along a blanket, and put a hat on him. Don't let lots of people touch him or get right in his face. Keep his first outing pretty short. He'll be fine.

Alot of mothers like to stay home with the baby the first week!..after they come home!...but not all are like that!:)..lol...you can take your baby out of the house anytime you feel comfortable doing so!...there are no time limits at all! now with the getting sick part!?..just keep em warm! and get one of those carseat covers! they are great, and the baby will be less exposed to the crowds!..:)

a couple told me the same thing about taking my daughter out who is now 6 weeks. but this is also a couple that kept their children locked up for months and these kids are now 13, 10 and 6 and they are constantly sick.
i take my child out constantly...babies need fresh air. as much as u try to protect your child, they will eventually get sick or something, and better for thme to get sick taht way they can build their immunities.

i would avoid really crowded places and letting alot of people handle him..but unless its bad weather (i dont know where you live) theres no reason not to.....fresh air will do him good. my son was born feb 10 and i went grocery shopping on the 15th with him....and i take my 4 year old to the playground every day so he gets out in the air (its like 65 degrees where we live though)
