In about a year, I'll be starting HRT...what can i expect?I've read & done research but I want information from people who've actually done or who are doing the hrt. I'd like to know what can i expect [cost wise, physically, emotionally, etc]. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

I date ladies like yourself; trust me, if there isn't a support group in your area I have more than a few tell you all about HRT, SRS (if you get to that point) et alia. Make sure you have a circle of friends you can speak with about it. The emotional cost can be huge; there is a LOT of bigotry towards transsexuals commonly ending in a loss of family contact, losing jobs (and consequently having to put on ten times the effort to find a place that will hire a MTF), depression and lonliness. Stay sociable with people and keep up your confidence. Internal fortitude is a big plus for the big change.
The drugs really depend on where you are and the costs can vary- short version is carry insurance and it will stay manageable. Say anywhere from $5-$50 depending on what they put you on like estrogen, anti-antigens, etc.
Physically, keep in shape and keep toned. You'll feel better about yourself. If you get breast enhancement surgery they commonly cut some of the muscles under your arms and my darling reports a definite loss of upper body strength. When the testosterone is removed after SRS, you'll feel a lot less aggressive. I know I went a little outside the lines of the focus of your answer, but I figure it is all coming up for you in the next few years, so what the hey...

P.S.: Almost forgot- Best of luck to you !!!

I highly suggest finding a support group because transitioning can be really rough and hurtful emotionally.

Here are a couple of really good sites with information regarding various transitioning topics including medical and financial concerns, as well as support groups, doctors, and thyapists (they are required) to help you get through the long process still smiling.
