It seemed to work for me with my son. I had my doctors appt. the day before my due date and afterwards went to the park and walked for about an hour, the contractions started a couple of hours later. I'm not sure that the walking is what did it but it couldn't hurt for you to try!

It may help. You can also try sex and nipple stimulation. And try walking up and down stairs two at a time -this can help get the baby into a good position. You may also consider seeing a chiropractor.

However really the average length or a non medically (mis)managed first time pregnancy is 41w3days. So it could be awhile yet.

And remember all of this "false" labour is preparing you so that, hopefully, when it kicks into high gear you only have a little bit left to go.

I've heard walking works. I've also heard that the contractions that go nowhere can last for several days before labor. I'm 40 weeks and 3 days, so I feel your pain! Your body is gearing up for the big event, though, so any progress is still progress. Keep that in mind!

It worked for me!!! I was 36 and 5 days w/DD and we had just had a snow storm that dropped like 19' of snow. My husband and I took the dog for a walk and to the playground to play. When we returned an hour later I started having bad contractions and my Mother in Law said "Well, I guess your gonna be walking to the hospital too!!" I had them all night and into the morning and in the morning I went pee and had my bloody show!!! Good Luck!!

The night before I had my youngest child, I was dialated 4.5 cm, but still not in active labor. I was up at the hospital, and I did walk the floors quite a bit, at the doctor's/nurse's suggestion, and I think it helped.

walking will help labor progress, as well as ease some of the pain of contractions.

if you're wanting to bring labor on faster, you could try curb walking. My midwife suggested it to me, but I couldn't swallow my pride enough to try it. You walk with one foot on the curb and one foot off, up and down the street. She said it will rock your pelvis and encourage contractions.

I am told no that its a myth I walked a ton with both kids my son 3 weeks early and my daughter was induced 1 week early. So I would say try sex cause that works!

I heard that walking helps too. It worked for my friend who was a few days overdue.
