i have 2 quotes to pick from as the closing sentence for my famous person report on Mary Shelley here they are:

"We are tomorrow's past" and.....

"Be men, or be more than men. be steady to your purposes and firm as a rock. This ice is not made up as such stuff as your hearts may be; it is mutable and cannot withstand you if you say it shall not."

in my opinion, i like the second one because it seems to have more meaning to it. but it's really long while the other is short and simple with no meaning really. i will be saying the quote orally in my speech and i have no problem memorizing the 2nd one at alll if anyone has any more quotes from mary shelley, i'lll gladly take them thanx

Choose the one that fits your main points most closely.

Is your report more about the role in history? Use the first one.

Is your report more about the abilities of people to overcome adversity? Then use the second one.

Which one fits the topics you discussed better?
The quotation should be a final thought, wrap-up, support for your main points.
And the first one has plenty of meaning, if you look at it from a philosophical standpoint.

I like your third one, but I disagree that the first one doesn't really mean anything. It means that we are the present generation, the one that the future generations will refer to, that they will learn from, or that they will deride as 'hopelessly oldfashioned'

I like the second one for a closing statement because it makes me think.

I would go with the first one. It has a deeper meaning than is shown, yet requires less of an explanation.
