Have the original light novels of the Haruhi Suzumiya series been imported and translated into english? If not, are they or will they ever (is there a rumor or some company planning to)?

So far there have been no announcements for a lisenced translation to the light novels of the Haruhi series, and that would largely depend on how successful the anime is once it's released soon in the U.S.
