Yes because how the rating system works is that if you are 16 or under you must have a parent or guardian with you. If you're 17 you can in with no problem.

well when i was 20 and i took a girl to the movies that was 17 they said i had to be 21 to buy her ticket, which is kind of weird cuz R ratings are for 17 and up...so i dont know... It might be different in each state though.

If you're in Australia no, as only people aged 18 and over can see R-rated movies regardless of whether you're with a parent or guardian.

Ratings say 'under 17 not admitted without parent" so there shouldn't be any problem. It may depend a bit on the state and on the theater itself.

Yes because you're 17+. They might ask for an I.D just to check your age but in most cases they hardly ever ask. Unless you and your friend looks really young for your ages.
