Ouch. I'm so sorry that you want to go back to Win95. But, at any rate, you're going to want to format your hard drive into FAT32 format. From that point, you should be able to delete all the partitions on your drive and start a fresh install of Win95.

Easy, you said it yourself.

Boot the Win95 CD, format the hard disk, install Win95.

BUT do you really want to go back to Win95?

That was such a nice OS when it was new, but it's soooo out of date. You won't be able to surf (because it's so security compromised and because internet explorer for win95 won't handle so many websites, you won't have access to any USB devices. Oh, and all that expensive memory you added to allow XP to run will be being used as cache ram only.

Why not just format it and reinstall XP?

Either way, you lose all your applications and you lose all your data. Back your data up before you format it.

Do you want to? Microsoft doesn't support it any more, and neither do other software writers that use Windows. They don't even support Windows ME, which forced me to get a new laptop computer. If you go back to Windows 95, no Windows updates, no adjustment for the new DST, and worst of all, no upgrades to Norton Antivirus, so that your Windows 95 will be at the mercy of all of those viruses, worms, spyware, and other nasty creations out there.

Maybe it would be better to install Linux instead.

Due to fact that Windows 95 is based on the horrible 9x kernel and is no longer supported, I would suggest you just reinstall XP. XP is based on the much more secure Windows NT kernel. If you are unsatisfied with your results with Windows XP, there are many different distributions of Linux that are capable of addressing your specific needs.
