This will take some intelligent thought on your part. No smart aleck answers, okay? I know about the sexual reasons, that's like, a duh! I want an intellectual answer. Women need to be free, to be able to be topfree in public if they want to, just like men do! I have spoken to many, many women about this, and most women want topfreedom.

We get turned on because we can't see them normally, and out culture has reserved them pretty much exclusively for sex. If you think about it, it's really the only part of the breast we find erotic. If you look at ads that are considered acceptable to show -i.e on magazine covers- that feature a woman's nearly bare body, there will just be some covering over her nipples.

When women couldn't show off their ankles and wrists, a woman showing her bare arms was considered lewd.

And in places where women can go around with their shirts off, they do, and really nobody finds it arousing. It's just the human body.

I think that when men see a woman's hard nipples through her shirt, they are given a visual cue of arousal and become turned on themselves...
