Its a brown/black striped lizard with slick skin n a kinda long tail. If I have a heated rock, do I need a fluorescent light? I mean, they sell small containers for lizards/turtles. Those don't have a place to put a fluorescent light.

You need to release the lizard back to nature. Please check your state laws and see if it is legal to take it from the wild.

I agree you might want to check your state laws, some states are VERY particular about catching and keeping of wildlife.. especially places like Arkansas.

That aside, The lizard will need the UV light (they aren't actually fluorecent you would find in the regular store), that helps in vitamin absorbtion. Without it many lizards have problems.

Those smaller tanks are for when they are on a desk or near a window, and getting some sort of light from the sun.
Most lizards need about a 10gal-40gal breeder tank though, and most of the time it's best to just get the light. They aren't that expensive, especially if you look on kingsnake.com or craigslist.com or ebay.com

same with the tanks.. I've found a LOT of tanks for free or only $1 a gallon.. which is dirt cheap for glass tanks.

You should let it go, and if you really want a lizard research it and buy one. If you want do that then you need to find out what kind of lizard it is. Get rid of the heat rock it can burn the lizard, start a fire and lizards like heat from above not below. You need a UVB light and a basking light, you might need a heat source at night depending on the lizard. But find out what kind of lizard it is so we can help you more.

Many locally caught lizards and snakes do not need a hot rock, simply keeping them in a warm area in the house will do fine. Lighting may be a different matter. Many lizards require some sunlight for health. You can keep your lizard near a window and give it INDIRECT light without having to worry about additional accessories. I DO SUGGEST that you do check the fish and game laws for Arkansas.. I think that collecting is a no, no.

I believe KN - warm rocks shouldn't additionally be offered! there's no thank you to swap their temperature and customarily will burn your animal. If the rock gets moist in any respect (your lizard gets out of his water dish and walks for the time of it or you spray it whilst misting a tank) they habit electricity and supply you fairly a marvel! yet another subject with them is they don't warmth everywhere different than the rock - on your animal to be heat, he must be on it. human beings used to think of their animals enjoyed them, because of the fact they in no way went everywhere else - fact became into, it became into too chilly for them to bypass everywhere else! With a pad below the tank the warmth diffuses for the period of the substrate and a warmth lamp is warmest on the middle and cooler outward, so this provides the lizard 9or despite you have) greater of fairly a extensive determination temperatures so it may stumble on a temperature the place it rather is gentle. in case you pick a source of heat from below the tank (abdomen warmth) bypass with an below tank heating pad. If not, purely use a lamp from above. i take advantage of the two, and enable the below tank pad on 24/7, turn the lamp on for the period of the day purely.
