1. Self expression
2. Value of the symbolism (the picture in the tat means something to you, the placing of the piercing means something to you.
3. In remembrance of something or someone. (i.e. Hermes wings on your ankle bc. you were an athlete for a long time.)
Just be careful not to make any rash decisions with body alterations. Although they are not as permanant as they used to be, they still leave scars.

Self expression , I have 5 tattoos and they all mean something but be careful they are addictive , I'm getting 6 more.

for one its helps you express who you are, and that you dont care what other ppl think, for two it could possibly in some way be something that you want to remember... say in remembrance of someone.. and last it may in its own way complete you make you feel comfortable with yourself..inside as well as out...

About the only reason I can think of is that you like the way it looks. Any other reason is, well....a bad reason.
