My best friend lost her step dad what sould I for her beside be there?

Was she close to her step dad? If so, then allow her to talk about her feelings. Ask her is there anything you can do to help her during this time. The best thing one can do is be there and listen. If there is a problem that is coming out of his passing then really listen and if it is more than you can handle then find another friend who might have gone through a similar situation as well to help.
