Lasers, eagle talons and mitsubishi eclipses (all essentially the same car) are notorious for throwing timing belts. When this happens the valves pound into the pistons like bullets from a gun. The motor is crap, and with the value of a plymouth laser... you are right. It is garbage. Now that that is all settled. Depending on where you live call up your local junkyard (check the phonebook) and they will generally gladly come out and haul her away for you. Some require you to yank the gas tank, if you don't want to do that yourself, find a junkyard that will do it for you. The going rate around me is about $90-100 a car. You could try to sell it, but these cars or INCREDIBLY common in the exact state you're describing. This is a VERY common problem. Don't blame your son either... these cars are an absolute disaster waiting to happen. Unless proper maintenance is observed. If they would have used a timing chain as opposed to a belt this could have been avoided.

Around here, there's ads in the paper for people willing to pay up to $300 for junk cars and they'll haul them off. The price of scrap metal is pretty high right now, so it should be easy to sell it for scrap for at least $150.
You could also list it in the local classifieds for around $500 or so as needing repairs. Many people look for such vehicles to fix up, doing the work themselves and getting a decent car cheaper than it'd cost to buy an already good running one.

if you can turn a wrench you can buy a rebuilt or used engine you can probably fix it cheaper than buying a new one and it probably just needs heads if the timing belt broke then you bent your valves this is not a noninterference engine also change the timing belt every 80 to 100 thousand miles to prevent this prob on any car

If you have the 1.8L engine, it should be ok even if the timing belt broke. But, if you have the 2.0L engine, then the valves were probably damaged when the timing belt broke.

Wrong, anything can be fixed if you want to spend the money.
Call a junkyard or donate it to a charity.
