"Vote for Congressman X: He's tough on crime."

Duh. No, I wanted to vote for the PRO crime candidate. Aren't most of us anti crime?

We should care. The question is why do we believe them. The answer to that is I have no idea.

Many politicians say they are against crime but they don't really have any ideas on how to improve it. No one is going to vote for someone that said they were for crime. If someone is against crime what do they plan to do about it?

When they stuff $80,000 in bribe money into their freezer, we don't.

When they go to Moscow and undercut our national diplomacy, we don't.

When they say in 1998 that Saddam has WMDs and then turn against our president in 2004 saying that he never did, we don't.

When they go to South America and buy sex from boys under 13, we don't.

When they stash their money away in bank accounts in the Fiji Islands and then demand that we keep the Estate Tax, we don't.

When they claim they're going to raise the ethical standards in the House and then nominate the only impeached (and still serving) congressmen to chair committees, we don't.

Come to think of it, if a democrat says ANYTHING, I generally don't pay any attention.

sure, they're all against crime...it's just something to add to their long list of things they want to accomplish when in office. People ask "what do you stand for", so they tell us.

I always figure that they mean that they're against crime when it comes to everyone else.
