i would think its because 1) how many girls out there have the raw athletic ability of say lebron james or kevin garnett at a young age to play basketball? maybe there are a few exceptions..cheryl miller or lisa leslie but for the most part theyre not ready.
2) the nba is more established as a league. while the wnba is only about 10 years old and has lost teams (and gained teams) in their short history. she's not gonna get a rookie contract of 3 years 8.9 million in the wnba. plus, it wouldnt necessarily be a smart move for a girl to join that league after high school and say the league folds...where does she go from there? she cant go back to college since shes a professional. she'll have to go overseas or something like that.
3) guys are idiots and can get away with it. i have yet to see a blue chip female have all this athletic potential to play a sport, not get the grades or get into trouble outside of school and have other people come to bat for them to save their behind and either get them a scholarship or a tryout. if ur a girl and u f*ck up, ur screwed.
