does it just take longer to open certain files...?

Well it takes longer, just think about it, the computer has to decompress the file, and that takes a short amount of time. Also if you have file problems, some file utilities might have problems trying to recover your files if something goes wrong.

drive compression in 98 is better the compressed drive is faster! no cons do it. defrag twice afterwords .
