Well I keep arguing with myself so Im gunna have to ask u guys for advice....
Please read my senario carefully to understand...
I have a 3 year old sable castrated hob. Hes been with me since he was a kit, he lived loose with me in my mobile home, now were in Spain he lives loose with me in my appartment.
Hes a fat happy chappy, hes good with my dog and my 2 cats when I let him loose into the rest of my parents house.
He spends all day in the appartment on his own, I fuss him when I get out of bed and go to bed, and most nights he comes out a plays with the other pets. He has the whole flat to run round with no real boundaries so theres plenty to play with and climb on and off.
*SO my question is...
Do u think he would be happier with a girly friend?!
Or just the same?
Is there anything diffrent I need to know about Jills?
IF I do buy find him a lady friend, I will try to find one of a simaler age.
PLEASE genuin answers only. Thank you so much for your time!!

If he is happy, then don't worry. I have the same thing with my guy- and he probably would like another friend, but is perfectly happy (and sleeping under my bed right now).
Go ahead and get another ferret if you would like to-- girl or boy. Ferrets usually get along fine with either sex. Jills are not much different than males, sometimes a little moodier, but are normally like males.

As he is castrated and no longer has that interest, I'd bet he would like a male or female playmate. I think they always do better in pairs. In USA I had some a long time ago and even after scent glands were removed, they could make a stink. Don't know if this is different with one and only two spray like that (even with glands removed). I never thought of having just one as they are so playful together. They are such social animals that two is always fun. However a new one now may also have jealously problems with the other pets.

It seems as though you ferret has A LOT of things to keep him busy...so, if your budget really cannot handle it at this time I'm sure it could wait. HOWEVER if you can afford the other ferret and probably a bigger cage then go for it!! :) I have found that ferrets are always happier in pairs. Just wait and see how excited he is to have someone his own size to romp around with. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside just typing it. LOL
Jills different to care for then hobbs? Nah...same care will be needed. I think the only difference will be that she will only be half of the males size at best. And as all ferrets (male or female) do, I am sure she will have a unique personality all her own.
If you are interested in more ferrety information check out this site...I love it, very thorough:

Ferrets can do quite well as companions, and it may take them awhile to get used to each other, but they do keep each other good company while you're out of the house. If you do get a new ferret, generally older ferrets take better to young kits rather than older jills, sprites, gibs, and hobs.
By the way, a neutered hob is called a gib. A spayed jill is called a sprite.

He seems happy enough as an only ferret, my sis has 3 ferrets now bought at different times. She bought all as babies introducing them an hour or so at a time till they got used to each other.? They get along fine together now so if YOU want a second ferret, go for it and there shouldn't be a problem. My sis and I have had up to 6 ferrets in one cage at one time with them not having problems sharing space together, so having two ferrets in an entire apartment, once again shouldn't be a problem.

You seem to have a lot of pets. You have to think of how the Jill will interact with the others. Your pet seems very happy the way things are. Maybe it's best to keep the family the way it is. Some animals do not do very well with change

he seems to be happy already!! but if you want to buy him a girlyfriend, then there are some things you need to make sure of:
1. similar age would probably best, and most fun for them
2. Jills, in my opinion, are actually cleaner. We had a male and female (siblings), and the female was much better about using the litterbox and such. so getting a girl wouldn't be anymore work.
3. You need to get her spayed, if shes not already.
i hope i helped!!

your ferret seems to be having fun by himself. Mine was so much fun and so happy. but he was getting old, and I was worried that he was going to die. So I got another younger. it was a girl. Needless to say he was not any happier just the same and he did die. And she was so sad. Animals really take it hard when another one goes. so I would honestly say no you don't need another one he is happy. But if you want another one. Remeber no 2 will be the same. They are a blast aren't they???
