its fine to put it on the resume. it shows your interest in the job. you should also include your education, work experiences, and activities (language/computer skills)... You could fit the day spent shadowing into either work experience or activities.

I was taught that your full name is the most professional route, and it's easy to remember too. With gmail, you can put a dot between your first and last name, and it'll work with or without (just a nice option). Never have an AOL or Hotmail email address if you're applying for a tech job; techs in the know frown upon those companies. Do your best not to use an ISP email like Comcast or Verizon, because you're not going to have that email as soon as you cancel your internet, move, switch providers, etc. The free ones like Yahoo and Gmail are theoretically yours forever. Also, unless your grandmother would approve of your MySpace, don't use the same email, because HR will search, and if they see foul language and beer pics, well...

Divide your Resume in to sections:
*Name, address, telephone, e-mail address, web site address *Objective or Summary *Education * Work Experience *Other information *References

Definitely include the job shadow day (in the Work Experience section) as it indicates a continued interest in law enforecement - they know your serious about your career choice and have actively sought out opportunities for experience and research. It doesn't matter that it was in high-school, it's absolutely relevant to the position your applying for so it gets included.

A beginning resume should include such things, not as a job but under other experiences.

No, it shows that you are interested in that type of career. And any experience, no matter how little, is cruical, especially if it pertains to the job you are going for.

Actually that is better than nothing.
It'll help a lot in showing that you know something rather than coming in fresh without knowing crap.
Going with what the guy above me said.
