Lio Messi is only 19 years old but yet he scored the 3 goals of Barçelona against Real Madrid today, making Ronaldinho and Samuel Etoo look like sparring partners. The fact that he always shines on big games (Chelsea fans probably remember him!) at such a young age is quite unique in football history (except for Pelé and Maradona). Is he the chosen one who's going to replace Ronaldinho as best player in the world in the next 2 or 3 years?

Yes as long as he remains injury free he has a great chance to become a legeng. I have seen many young players called the next Maradonna but I really think Messi is the real deal. I believe in 2010 he will be the best player in the world.

Maybe!!!!
If he starts to Play like the Best Argentina striker of all time Gabriel Batistuta then he may get Fifa wolrld player of the year awards.
As for being the next Maradona and all that everybody is saying. No Chance. Maradona is unique, there will never be another like him.
Every time a new Argentina player steps up they say he is the next Maradona. The only Argentina player to ever come close to being as good as Diego Maradona was BATISTUTA.
Messi is a good player but he is a bit young at the moment. Look at Aimar where is he now in the 2002 world cup they were saying he was the next Maradona. and now you don't even hear about him.
Whatever they do they shouldn't push Messi too hard too early or he will fade away before he hits his peak!

He is certainly on his way to becoming the worlds best. Last night proved it. It will be intresting to see how Messi and Wayne Rooney develop as players further into their careers as most certainly will be the best two players on the planet very soon.

Messi will hopefully continue to develope. I think that having teamates like Ronaldinho and Eto'o will only help him. I think he will be the best player in the world in the future, just not shure how long before this actually happens.

yeah he could be the next best player in the world if keeps on training harder and I'm sure he's gonna have a long career so it might take him about 2-4 years to be the best.

Yes, but Ronaldinho is still gonna have it 2-3 years from now. Think more like 5-6 years.
