When he is done sowing his wild oats, then he is ready to settle down. Until a man has experienced life he will always think about what he may have missed if he gets married too soon.

security, financially stable, and no ball and chain. Both husband and wife still need a certain amount of freedom.

a man is a natural protector so he wants to be able to protect and hopefully provide. But now days the provide may take both the husband and the wife.

The two most important healthy reasons are:

1. Maturity
2. The right woman.

That being said, not everybody seeking marriage is mature or even generally healthy, so don't rush into anything.

I think that men have the same ability to commit or to want to commit as women. You can't want to change someone into commiting if they don't want to or aren't ready to, that just brings you a whole world of hurt. My finace` asked me to marry him and we've talked about a family without me doing anything, he just became ready on his own. We are also in our mid to late 20's. I think its just a time thing.

he has to want to. If he isn't ready to settle down he's not going to. Nothing you can do to change his mind.
