Is is just to screw with peoples head??

Yes and No. Ideally it is to save energy, being that we get longer days but in practice, yes, it is just to screw with your head.

Actually it's a method of energy conservation.

Think of it this way:
During the spring and summer the days are longer and the sun rises earlier (let's say 5 am)
If we apply daylight savings time, we will be getting up "earlier" so that will can use the natural sunlight we would normally sleep through. That way we use less electicity trying to light and heat our homes during the day (especially in the evening) because we can use sunlight.

No, it is not to "screw with peoples head" (sic). Are you incapable of handling the concept of a clock cahnging by an hour? Does it "traumatise" you?

It was originally introduced during wartime to save lighting energy in factories.
