When it boils down to it a country is one or the other. Capitalism is an economic structure not a form of government. In my opinion Republicans tend to be more like communist (in the name of Jesus) and democrats more like socalist. In my opinion we are becomming communist even though we were founded as socalist (Benjamin Franklin gave us a brilliant form of socalism that we have managed to mess completely up).

What the hell are you smoking? Do you know what socialism and communism are? Don't you know that the communists tried to stamp out religion?

You are right that the US government is not what it claims to be, but it's no socialist or communist country.
The united states would be best defined as a corpacracy. A country of "representatives" that represent the interest of wealthy corporations.
Both major parties (democrats and republicans) have candidates funded and controlled by corporations.
The love to put on a good show for you to pretend there is a difference, but in reality they both serve the same masters.
When democrats are in power they enact a few watered down environmental bills and fund a few more social programs, to be shortly canned when the republicans get a foothold.. basically establishing a constant equilibrium of mediocrity. Just enough evidence for you to think there is a "difference" when none really exist.
All the while the corporate machine has everything set up nicely to keep any real candidates out of your view.
Did you know the commission for presidential debates refused to let ralph nader into the debates? Not only that but they went so far as to refuse to let him even sit in the audience and watch the debate! (security wouldn't allow him into the event) And we call this a free country!
Why do you think they are so afraid of the man? Perhaps because they can't buy him and he'll actually tell you the truth? Or even worse you might be compelled to vote for him, and all that money spent buying the other candidates influence would be flushed down the toilet!
What is really sad is how pathetic the average American is, that they can't even see how corrupt our country is.
All these fools walking around saying "it's a free country", when your really only free to be a consumer.
If our for-fathers such as Benjamin Franklin where alive today and saw the state of the current government, and new revolution would have already started. It's too bad all true patriots are dead.

Capitalism is actually 2 economic systems. There's free market Capitalism which is what we were founded as. The government under Free Market Capitalism recognizes individual rights and doesn't intervene in the economy. Free Market Capitalists are rare and are limited to the Libertarians and the Paleo-Conservatives (some are Republicans, others are in the Constitution and Libertarian Parties). Ron Paul is a free market Capitalist who intends to restore the Constitution of the United States.

State Capitalism (which can also be referred to as National Socialism or Nazism because its also partially Socialist) is when the government subsidies corporations. There's alot of misinformation about that term because the Communists who are trying to save face after the disastrous failure of the Soviet Union call it that, but it was Communist. Under State Capitalism, businesses go to the government whenever they need extra money to increase their profits. They buy politicians to help them achieve their goals. The Neo-Cons of the Republican Party are State Capitalist.

Socialism is the idea that the government should provide welfare to people who don't work and is characterized by disrespect for property rights and desires to expand government programs. It is characterized by government control of many industries and labor unions. Socialism cannot make economic calculations so it will always fail and reinvent itself under new names and with slight changes. Socialists believe that people are too stupid to know how to spend their money and that the government knows how to do so. It is the goal of the Democratic Party.

Communism is total government control of the economy (though Communists may spread misinformation with a false pretense of a future governmentless society to increase support for their ideas). It also involves the government's complete control of people's rights. Communist countries are very poor and people are stuck with lots of worthless money with nothing to purchase.

Primitivism (also referred to as Environmentalism) is the system advocated by some Democrats and the Green Party. It involves the belief that nature is best and that we should destroy our economy and shorten our lives because humanity should be either poor or extinct. They tend to do a good job of promoting their ideas (for example through Al Gore, the Demagogue spreading the Global Warming hoax). However, they are an anti-humanity group that should be avoided.

Back in the 17th and 18th centuries, there were 3 political philosophers. Thomas Hobbes was the first conservative, which in its proper sense is somebody who supports tradition and history and therefore whatever has been shown to be best throughout history. John Locke was the first liberal, which used to mean for freedom (as in Free Market Capitalism), and advocated a government that respected life, liberty, and property (Jefferson used pursuit of happiness because it was catchier, though the meaning was still intended to be the same). If the government violated those rights, the people were obligated to alter or abolish it (by those standards, every government of the world should be altered or abolished and turned into a Libertarian country). Rousseau (I can't remember his full name off the top of my head) was the first Socialist and the first Environmentalist. He was the influence on Marx that created Communism. He also influenced the French Revolution which is why France has the motto of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity to this day. All 3 are mutually exclusive. You can't be free with social justice schemes or multicultural drivel. You have to choose between Libertarianism, Communism, or Multiculturalism. You can't have more than 1 and the only one you should want is Libertarianism. By the way, Ben Franklin was no Socialist and the Republicans aren't Communist (Bush and his Neo-Con buddies have alot more in common with Adolph Hitler).

As it stands right now, America is split between the National Socialism of the Neo-Cons and the Socialism of the Democrats. They aren't our only choice. We can choose Ron Paul as our president and return to the Constitution or we can stay the course and watch more Big Government policies fail (as all do). Then we can continue to wonder why the schools do a poor job of educating kids, why HUD housing is rat-infested, and why the New York Health Department's bureaucrats don't even know what rats look like (they're gonna be trained in how to spot rodent infestation because they missed it for months at a KFC/Taco Bell; what a bunch of morons).

Neither we are capitalist with a bit of government regulation. I don't think you know very much about Communism or socialism, socialism is an economic system too. Communism is based on socialism, though a lot of that is debatable.

Last time I checked, the US was a democratic republic, neither communist nor socialist. You're confusing definitive terms with personal interpretations, Friend, and that dog just don't hunt.
But I love cclovahh's dyslexic response about the "untied states."

Socialism & Communism are the Exact same thing...Communist Russia was, at one time, referred to as the USSR...The Union of Soviet Socialists Repuplic! Our founding fathers did not promote Socialism in any way...what history books have you been reading? The US is a Democracy, & hopefully, it will stay that way...

I think that's pretty unfair to say about the Republicans, they aren't any worse than the Democrats. To consider the US communist isn't saying much about you as a citizen.

Your argument is flawed. Communism is also an economic structure. It is usually accompanied with a dictatorial political structure. By definition the U.S. government is a republic.
