It depends if you are starting with a running base or just starting to run.

If you have a base, then starting using the training schedules from coolrunning.com as a starting point.

If you have no base, then use the Couch to 5K training also from coolrunning.com or the beginning runner schedule from Runners World found here, http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/news/article.asp?UAN=30

Take your time, build your base milage with no more than a 10% distance increase each week and keep a running log so you know your progress, what supplements work and which don't and most importantly, when your shoes are ready to be replaced.

Most shoes are worn out between 300 and 500 miles. Don't push it or you are almost guaranteed an injury which could sideline you for quite a while.

Good luck and remember to have fun. They are a blast.

What I would do is start running every week. Try to work up to 26 miles.

Start with 1 then 2 then 3 and so on. Then you shoulld be able to run a maraathon!!!

Do lots of running.
If you use a car, don't use it - walk everywhere you can.
Aim for 30 minutes-1hr walking per day, and always stretch before you walk & keep hydrated BY Drinking water.
Run for about 1hr-2hrs a day [not all at once], and don't over-do it - you don't want an injury!!

Hope this helped!!xx
