A couple of months is fine.

As the pregnancy goes on each airline will have its own policy on when they will or will not fly you, what sort of medical certification they may need, and also depending on how far you are flying (how long you will be in the air).

You need to check with the individual airline.

You should also clear it with your doctor, just in case.

The airlines (and most drs) won't let you get on a plane if you are within 4-6 weeks of your due date. THere are a few reasons:
1- The airline doesn't want a woman going into labor on a flight.
2- Even in a compressed-air fuselage, there still is less oxygen than at sea level, and you risk reduced oxygenation to the baby. Most airliners are only compressed to about 10,000 ft altitude, and unless you live in Denver, most drs won't allow you to go above 5,000 ft.
3- Somehow, some way, the rapid change in altitude and air pressure has a tendency to make the amniotic sac rupture, triggering early labor. So, even if you aren't physically ready to deliver, your body may react adversely to the flight. I don't know if this is true or not, but my dr told me this when I was pregnant with my son, and she said she had patients who experienced this.
4- Because of the pressure on the veins in the legs during pregnancy, a woman has a very high risk of blood clots from sitting for an extended period of time. Combine that with the altitude, and you could have a major problem.

No, that's false.... no one can tell you not to get into a plane as long as you pay your ticket. I am nurse and helped deliver a baby boy on air between Thailand and Malaysia.... and his mum's from Germany..... so the kid got the choice of having either a Thai or Malasian citizenship with his german too.....
They might advise you to postponed your flight when you're 2-3 weeks near your due date though.....

One of the problems is, if you are going on a long flight, they caution about blood clots. My cousin had just gone to Italy and came back and she had a blood clot in her leg. And being pregnant may increase this chance. Its a very slim chance that this would happen. I believe that each pregnancy is different and something you need to talk to your Dr. about.

I flew at 8 months without any trouble. You just need to make sure that your doctor does not see any trouble with you flying. If you are a high risk then you might not want to.

Airplane travel is completely safe even in the last trimester. Although it is often recommended not to travel in the last monthes only to prevent the possibilty of delivering during your flight which would not be pleasant for yourself or any of the other travelers

no that is not true. You shouldn't fly on a plane towards the end of your pregnancy.
