i'm writing a persuasive paper on harsher punishment for child molesters. but i can't find any specific laws on what child molesters get now, like how many years in jail. I was just wondering if anyone new specifics on it.

Lindsay, most of your respondents aren't reading your question. Since you are writing a persuasion paper, you might start your research in the library or on-line by looking up what category of offense a child molestation conviction carries. Normally this is available in the State Penal Code of Criminal Conduct. There it spells out what actually constitutes an offense and what the range of punishment is. Happy hunting. We need better laws concerning child molesters for sure.

Why do you ask? If you are asking for a sick or pointless reason, please do not, this is a serious issue, not to be laughed or joked about. If you think it is funny, you should really sit and think about what you are doing and the people you hurt by making a joke out of the subject.

If you are asking because you feel it may have happened to you, then you need to tell someone. Talk to an adult you trust, if you feel that the person who has done this is a person you should have been able to trust, please seek out a school guidance counselor, or speak to the police. Any police officer will get you to the right people you need to talk with. I hope this helps, Good luck.

Hey Adventure Man, anyone who responed when I did or beofre me didnt have the luxury of the details. Without the details, we had no idea as to why the question was being posed. Since you feel the need to point that out, you should realize that this is a very important subject, one which should never be taken lightly, and that those who posted for her to find help were only concerned with her physical and mental well being. I apoligize if I seem overeative or harsh, but this is a subject I would never take a chance on not telling someone to get the help they need.

You have to be more specific to get a specific answer. But the laws here in MI are somewhat strict on the subject.

In Michigan I don't know, but in Cuba it's 25 Years mandatory, before parole.

Since you are writing a paper on this subject I'll assume you are in college.

Since you are in college I'll assume you don't have internet access. (DOH!)

And yet here you are.

Asking a question you could research with minimal effort on Yahoo! or any other search engine.
