A tsunami is generated by the rapid displacement of water. This can be caused by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, undersea nuclear testing, and meteor impacts. Or anything else which causes the displacement of a massive quantity of water.
Wind-generated waves are caused by the wind on the ocean surface, causing ripples and waves. As the wind blows the ripples more, they become larger waves.
A typical tsunami also contains a vast quantity more water than a wind wave.
