$1 USD is approximately equivalent to 1,000 TShs. I lived in a village for two years on well under $100 each month. Life in the city is more expensive, but that amount could easily pay for the services of a housekeeper, a driver, a translator, safaris, etc without a problem. Most well-off tourists in TZ spend $2,000-10,000 on a 2-3 week safari so you should be fine.

I think you'll have a fantastic time in Tanzania. Enjoy the nightlife & learning about the country. Of course, like anywhere else, keep your eyes open & be safe.

That is more than TWO Millions TZ shillings. You will leave like a king. You hardly need more than 500,000 tz shillings to live comfatbily in Tanzania, particualrly if housing is paid for and you will be living up country. Even in DSM that will be more than what you need.

All the best!/
