He's a dog. Before being named "Goofy", his name was "Dippy Dawg", ("dawg" being "Southern" pronounciation of "dog" lol)

He's a dog, and ironically he has a pet dog named Pluto. Sort of strange to have a clothed talking dog with a regular dog for a pet.
